General Summary:
Glen Oaks Community College is seeking qualified Adjunct Instructors to teach Geology (in-person) for the Fall 2026 semester.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Adjunct Instructor is responsible for the effective instruction and facilitation of student learning, demonstrating a strong commitment to student recruitment, retention, and success. The role includes meaningful assessment of learning, curriculum development, and the use of diverse instructional delivery methods incorporating both traditional and non-traditional approaches.
- Teach assigned courses—which may include day, evening, online, main campus, or extension site offerings—and ensure all classes meet on time for the full scheduled duration.
- Establish and maintain an engaging, student-centered learning environment that maximizes measurable student learning outcomes.
- Prepare, submit, and maintain all reports associated with student learning, as required by the institution.
- Evaluate student assignments in a constructive and meaningful manner that supports ongoing growth; return graded work in a timely fashion; and submit accurate final grades in accordance with institutional deadlines.
- Offer educational assistance during regularly scheduled and posted office hours or by appointment to support student learning and success.
- Promote completion of student opinion surveys for each class and review available summary results to identify opportunities for improving student success.
- Sustain professional knowledge and expertise, including completion of all required compliance training and professional development hours.
- Perform additional duties as assigned in support of departmental and institutional goals.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in discipline, including a minimum of 18 graduate‑level credit hours in the specific instructional area.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations, including individuals representing a wide range of abilities, ages, nationalities, and cultures.
- Experience with instructional technology is preferred.
- College‑level teaching experience is preferred.
