General Summary:
The Assistant Director of Financial Aid is responsible for assisting the Director of Financial Aid in the administration of federal, state, college, and private financial aid programs and services. This position may require some evenings as assigned.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Examples of duties performed by this position include:
1. Maintain a current working knowledge of federal and state financial aid programs,
including compliance issues.
2. Attend conferences to remain current on developments in the field.
3. Collaborate with the director on various aspects of Financial Aid operations including,
but not limited to: satisfactory academic progress monitoring, federal verification
process, NSLDS enrollment reporting, Financial Aid Policy and Procedure Manual updates,
federal and state regulation compliance monitoring.
4. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other college departments.
5. Assume the duties of the Director of Financial Aid in their absence or on a temporary
basis as needed to ensure uninterrupted operations.
6. Assist with the Financial Aid Office communication plan in collaboration with the
Marketing and Communications department as needed.
7. Manage communications, marketing, budgeting, awarding, and reconciliation for the
Federal Work Study and America Reads programs.
8. Manage the budget tracking, awarding, and Business Office reconciliation of SEOG.
9. Monitor and update all information on the Financial Aid website including adherence
to Consumer Information Guide regulations.
10. Manage the marketing, awarding, and eligibility monitoring of Glen Oaks institutional
and Foundation scholarships.
11. Manage eligibility, awarding, disbursement and college reimbursement for State
of Michigan Fostering Futures, and TIP programs. Assist other FA staff with Reconnect,
Reconnect Expansion and CCG.
12. Counsel students and parents on financial aid matters, including the application
process, aid eligibility, needs analysis results, financial aid estimation, and loan
counseling.
13. Manage federal grant and student loan packaging.
14. Ensure the institution meets the Constitution Day and Voter Registration regulations.
15. Collaborate with the Director on monthly loan delinquency letters and loan default
efforts.
16. Assist with college-wide events such as student orientations, college fairs, and
other Financial Aid workshops and presentations.
17. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in education, business, or a related
field.
2. Three (3) years of relevant work experience.
3. Excellent interpersonal skills.
4. High level of skill with Microsoft Excel.
5. Ability to work evenings and/or weekends when required.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Master’s degree from an accredited institution, or progress towards the degree.
2. Experience working in a college Student Services setting or related field.
3. Experience with Ellucian Colleague or other student information system.
